This Division implements development projects in the estate sector (now privatized) plantation and estate villages belonging to the State Plantation Corporation, which produces spices such as Tea, Rubber, Coconut, Cinnamon and Pepper which are directly involved in the production process of major export crops in Sri Lanka.

Estate Infrastructure Sector

Introduction

Implementation of developmental interventions and development projects in the estate sector (now privatized) plantation and estate villages belonging to the State Plantation Corporation, which produces spices such as Tea, Rubber, Coconut, Cinnamon and Pepper which are directly involved in the production process of major export crops in Sri Lanka.
Expected under this subject.

Accordingly, estate estates throughout the Galle and Matara districts of the Southern Province and the estates belonging to the State Plantation Corporation.
• Estate road development.
• Development of rural and estate roads.
• Development of sanitary and drinking water facilities in estate schools.
• Providing Roofing Sheets for Living Room Rooms in the Estate (For Estate Houses).
• Implementing health promotion programs in plantation related schools.
• Implementation of capacity building programs for estate women.
• Toilet assistance for rural and estate housing.

Under this program, projects and programs are implemented in accordance with the development plan of the Ministry under criteria such as Criteria Based Development and Provincial Specific Development Heads.

 Who are the beneficiaries?
• Beneficiaries (in general) of the community living in the plantation and estate villages belonging to the State Plantation Corporation (including privatization).
• Beneficiaries living in Government Houses (Line rooms).
• Beneficiaries who do not have toilet facilities in estate villages (for toilets).
• Children studying in estate schools.
• Women who work in plantations.

Selection Procedure for Beneficiaries.

Upon inspection and on receipt of applications / requests and on requests made by the estate authorities.
Requests made by public representatives.
On the request made by the Divisional Secretariats / Pradeshiya Sabhas.

Time (approximately):

03/06 months for road development.
Toilets are given a period of three months.
01 month for a Capacity Building Program.
Sanitary (toilet / drinking water) projects for schools within 3/6 months.

The subject of rural and estate infrastructure development.



Approved project activities under the 2019 development plan.

1. Rural and Estate Road Development (PSDG-9.5M, CGB-12.0 M).
- This means rural and estate areas where the estates (privatized) belong to the State Plantation Corporation.
- Runs through the estates or develops roads around the estates.
i. Asphalt application.
ii. Concreting.
iii. Performs stone casting and cylinder application / side wall construction.

  2. Improvement of sanitation facilities (PSDG-3.0M, CGB-5.0 M).
i. Providing toilet assistance for rural and estateless families with no toilet contribution of 50%.
ii. Improvement of toilet and drinking water facilities in estate schools.
iii. Construction of public toilets for estate houses as needed.

3. Plantation Roof Repair (PSDG-2.0M).
V Providing roofing sheets for line rooms (Line rooms) in the estate areas (through the estate superintendents).

4. Implement health promotion programs in plantation schools.
Conducting awareness programs on health and hygiene for selected schools.

5. Development of physical facilities for estate schools.
The Health and Sanitation Facilities of the Estate Schools will also primarily consider other infrastructure requirements relating to toilet / drinking water / plantation schools.
